What does a Dental Hygienist Do?

• Dental radiographs (X-rays) for hygiene evaluation and referral
• Fluoride, sealants, and antimicrobial therapies to prevent or reduce disease
• Oral cancer screenings and early detection of dental concerns
• Personalized home-care education and nutritional guidance
• Coordination of care with dentists and specialists as needed

These services emphasize prevention, early intervention, and support for patients in maintaining lifelong oral health.

Certain procedures fall outside the legal and professional scope of practice for dental hygienists in Colorado. Painted Sky Dental does not provide:

• Tooth extractions or oral surgery
• Root canal therapy
• Dental fillings, crowns, bridges, or implants
• Denture fabrication, adjustments, or repairs
• Orthodontic treatment
• Sedation or general anesthesia procedures
• Diagnosis or treatment of conditions that require a dentist’s clinical diagnosis

When dental or surgical treatment beyond hygiene services is needed, we assist patients with appropriate referrals to trusted dentists and specialists for comprehensive care.
